Kick off Recepition for Aids Walk 2009
Written by Anni Adams
Michelle St. John helped me create one of the most wonderful, luxurious, tasty and beautiful events I have ever been a part of. I have been working for AIDS Walk San Francisco for a few years, and each year we have a Kick Off Reception where we honor our top fundraisers for the year before and "kick-off" our major fundraising efforts for this year's campaign. The event is a favorite among our participants, sponsors, volunteers, and has become an inspriational occaision for all of those involved. This year's event went above and beyond, and that was largely in part to the dedication and vision that Michelle brought to the event.
Michelle gave us soooo many delicious options to choose from. Our mouths were watering from the first day we got the menu options. We ended up getting some chicken satay, mini crab cakes, spanikopita, mini lamb burgers, and then she threw in these yummy caviar filosjust on a whim!
For our food stations, she designed a breathtaking seafood station! There was more sushi than i've seen in my life. and it was delicious. We had a gorgeous cheese and fruit station, and then again she threw in a "do-it-yourself" polenta station because she didn't think that our guests were going have enough food sticking to their ribs! It was awesome!
There was a beautiful crystal desert bar, and the way they decorated the tables was absolutely perfect. She loves platters and has been collecting unique and beautiful pieces for quite some time. The thought and design shows in her presentation.
Did I mention that she donated all of this? On top of the amazing service, Skyler St. John truly went above and beyond all expectations and did it all to support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and over 60 other Bay Area HIV/AIDS service organizations. The night will be a wonderful memory for all in attendance, and will hopefully serve to generate millions in funds going to thousands more.
Truly amazing. Please take the time to explore their services the next time you are catering.

Kick off Recepition for Aids Walk 2010
They did it again! Skyler St. John Catering and Event Planning once again provided the catering food, display, and service for our AIDS Walk San Francisco Kick Off reception....and I think they even out did the event they put together last year.
Michelle and Skyler were incredibly responsive to my needs. It was a bit of a luxury planning it with them this year, because we had all learned from the flow of the event last year. We talked about having a sushi station that could be accessed from all sides (trust me....the line was out of control last year) and we worked together to figure out a plan. They had this super awesome plexiglass case that they creatively filled to create a beuatiful stand and then arranged the sushi on it in a way that encouraged access from all angles! It was brilliant, functional, but more importantly gorgeous and scrumptuos!
The other cool thing that we did this year, per Michelle and Skyler's suggestion, was to have a slider station. This was such a fun addition to the reception! Everyone raved about the pulled pork slider! Hearty, interactive, and elegant all at the same time. The presentation, again, was so creative, modern, and perfect for our audience and venue space.
I cannot recommend Skyler St. John Catering and Events any higher than I've tried in the past. Working with Michelle and Skyler is so easy, their knowledge of events and event flow is crutial to a successful event. And all you have to do is trust them and they will put together displays and settings that truly set them apart from the rest.
I will definitley go to Skyler St. John Catering again!

The Big Rumble at City Hall
(Amazing Big Rumble display Skyler St. John's Design Team put under Plexiglass)
Written by Lyz Luke
Skyler St. John Catering & Event Planning made The Big Rumble Kickoff a huge hit! Everyone who was at the City Hall event was raving about how great the food and display was...even a few days later.
For those of you who don't know, The Big Rumble is an earthquake preparedness event. This year we are commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake with live music, kids activities, disaster preparedness trainings, etc. Skyler St. John Catering & Event planning went the whole 9 yards on our kickoff.
Michelle and her team created a fantastic display under a plexi-glass box that looked like an earthquake had hit a china cabinet! I know it sounds a little zany....but they couldn't have made it more tasteful and charming. It was the talking point of the evening!
Aside from the fantastic display, the food was to die for. I'm talking wild mushroom tartlets, caviar salads, Mediterranean platters, (my favorite) chicken salad wraps with guacamole, samosas with savory pear chutney, and so much more!
Their staff was incredibly reliable, friendly, and accommodating. They attended every walk through, were on top of their paperwork (sooo important with City Hall), and on the night of the event, everyone was professional and friendly.
I would recommend Skyler St. John in a heart beat. I have done a ton of events in the past, but they have (by far) been one of the best.
